SSLA Awards and Bursary

The Saskatchewan School Library Association, a special subject council of the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation proudly offers annual awards and a bursary to individuals who demonstrate leadership and distinguished service to school libraries.

The SSLA Awards and Bursary Poster can be distributed to interested parties.

​Dr. Alixe Hambleton Bursary

The Saskatchewan School Library Association offers annually, a bursary valued at $500.00 to a student registered at a recognized Canadian University in an undergraduate or graduate program in Education with the award to be used for a course in school librarianship. The student selected for the award must be a resident of Saskatchewan. The award will be based on academic achievement and financial need.

Connie Acton Award of Merit

The Saskatchewan School Library Association, a special subject council of the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation, recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to school library service in Saskatchewan.

The Connie Acton Award of Merit recognizes the contribution and effort of those individuals who have worked towards making the association an effective agency for the promotion of sound school library development and practice.

The recipient must stimulate support and interest in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of library services at all levels.

​John G. Wright Distinguished Service Award

The Saskatchewan School Library Association annually presents an award to recognize a school-based or central office-based administrator who has direct responsibility for a school or group of schools, and who has demonstrated commitment toward establishing or developing an effective school library program.
