Popplet

Back to Ed Tech Tools
Popplet is an application and web tool to capture, organize and visualize ideas. Teachers and students can create mind maps, graphic organizers, timelines, and many other forms of visual organization. Popplet allows users to add images, videos, and even draw inside a “popple”. To connect notes and start a new note, click one of the small circles which hover near each popple while editing. Popplet offers a browser bookmarklet that users can use to add content from other webpages to their Popplet pages.

Popples can be created collaboratively through email invitations. Popplets can be shared online, embedded into a blog or website, exported as PDFs, or printed. Popplet Lite is free, but is limited to just one popplet. The full version of Popplet allows an unlimited number of popplets, which can be shared with and edited by other Popplet users.
Educational uses:
  • Capture facts, thoughts, and images and learn to create relationships between ideas
  • Generate ideas and plan projects
  • Brainstorm or jot down notes
  • Organize their thoughts and generate their next big idea for pre-writing
  • Create a timeline
  • Online Know, Want, Learn chart
  • Construct concept maps
  • Create causation charts
  • Analyze read text
  • Visualize complex systems

  1. Create a free Popplet Lite account or pay for a Popplet Full account.
  2. Click on the public Popplet tab to review examples of how Popplet can be used to create mind maps or graphic organizers.
