Google Hangouts

Back to Ed Tech Tools
Google+ Hangouts is a free video chat service that enables both one-on-one video chats and group video chats with up to 10 people.

In addition to video chatting, Google+ Hangouts users can send and receive messages and share documents, scratchpads, images, photos and videos, animated stickers, location, and YouTube videos with other users.   Google+ Hangouts also offers a “Hangouts on Air” feature for broadcasting live video conversations that are accessible to anyone with a web browser.

A Google Plus account is needed to start a hangout. Recipients of a call also need to have a Google account and a Google+ account set up.

Since Hangouts allow for a number of people to participate at one time, it is optimal for connecting students to other classrooms, experts, or mentors.
