EasyBib

Back to Ed Tech Tools
EasyBib is a citation generator. To create a bibliography, visit the site, select the appropriate source, plug in all the relevant information, then click the Format button, and EasyBib puts all that information into a properly formatted citation. The completed bibliography can be saved as an RTF file.

EasyBib offers more than fifty different source media to select from: books, journals, articles, databases, newspapers, websites  —even photos, cartoons, and audio recordings. The search tool locate desired reference sources. The site also offers a range of citation formats, including MLA, APA, Chicago, and Harvard.

EasyBib  automatically saves bibliographies to its database and provides a reference code for retrieval. The site sets a browser cookie, which expires in a week, that points to the bibliography in the service’s database. Users can keep working on the citation list on the Web, then save everything to an RTF file when finished, and then revisit the bibliography online.

EasyBib released a free iPhone and iPad application which create citations by scanning book barcodes with a phone’s camera. Users can add citations on the app and email those citations to themselves from the app. Just as EasyBib website create properly formatted citations, the app will generate MLA format citations for free.  Generation of citations in APA or Chicago style requires a paid subscription.

Educational uses:
  • Advocate digital citizenship
  • Reserve time for learning by automatically creating a works cited page.
